Tomorrow, 22 September, is World Car-Free Day. It’s a day on which towns and cities enable people to experience traffic-free streets and instead re-imagine neighbourhoods designed for people to enjoy walking, wheeling, cycling, and playing. Take a look what’s happening in our neighbourhood.

Other events happening in Islington

Islington Council are working with local residents and community groups on free events to encourage people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to enjoy the benefits of active travel.

10:30am - 1.00pm: Islington Clean Air Parents are running an event with Islington Council to talk about the future plans for the car-free road in Highbury Fields. They will be using chalk and measuring equipment to mark out and visualise the plans and it will be a great opportunity for you to offer your thoughts on the next steps.

12.00 - 6.00pm: Islington’s annual walking and cycling festival, Saddle and Sole, will take place on Highbury Fields. There will be free bike checks with Dr Bike here as well, pop-up stalls from local shops, family fun activities including face painting, and lots more to see and do. The event gives even more people the opportunity to get involved with active travel.
